Sleep Hygiene

One of the things that comes up regularly in my client sessions is sleep, or rather the lack of sleep.

Sleep Hygiene: The Key to Better Rest and Health

In our fast-paced, no time for ourselves world, good quality sleep is often overlooked.  Sleep plays such a crucial role in our mental and physical health.  That’s where sleep hygiene comes in.  Sleep hygiene isn't about how often you change your bed sheets or pyjamas, but to a set of habits and practices that promote consistent, uninterrupted, and restful sleep.  Just like brushing your teeth is essential for oral health, good sleep hygiene is essential for healthy rest.

Common sleep hygiene practices include maintaining a regular sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, and keeping your sleep environment dark, quiet, and cool.  Limiting screen time before bed, avoiding caffeine late in the day, and using your bed only for sleep (not work or TV) can also make a big difference.

Diet is also a key factor in how certain foods can promote good sleep and how others can prevent a good nights sleep

Improving your sleep hygiene doesn't require drastic changes—just small, consistent adjustments that can lead to better sleep, improved mood, sharper focus, and overall well-being.

Ready to sleep better? Start by making one small change tonight.
